It's time once again to prepare for SAIFD's 2008 Student Design
Competition! Information in the forms below
has been updated, so please take the time to read through them
carefully and thoroughly.
Please
note any questions, feel free to contact Scott A. Awad AIFD,
Student Competition Chair at eventstorent@aol.com
to discuss.
The
competition will take place on Thursday, July 3 with the mandatory
prep meeting the evening of Wednesday, July 2. Competitors will
need to be present at the meeting for final instructions prior
to the competition. No product will be shown at the prep meeting.
As
outlined in the competition rules, the fresh designs follow
the basic outline set last year at the 2007 Symposium. Categories
are similar with some simple changes.
Once
again, all product for the dried portion of the competition
will be supplied by Knud Nielsen and the design will be completed
on site. No props are allowed other than the materials supplied
to you. All students competing are required to complete this
portion of the competition. Points for this portion will be
factored as part of the Designer of the Year.
The
SAIFD
Design Competition registration form is to be completed
for each student competing. Please return all registration forms
in one packet to Scott A. Awad AIFD, sending fee for competition
and symposium registration fee directly to National Headquarters.
PEOPLES
CHOICE- Due to limited space at the hotel, one category chosen
by the competition committee will be displayed. Only this piece
will be eligible for votes in the Peoples Choice portion of
the competition.
We
hope this year's competition will be a fulfilling learning experience
for each student competing. Suggestions you have made have resulted
in changes we have this year. Thank you for your input and commitment
you have to these students and the future of AIFD.
Please
read the rules
that apply to the Knud Nielsen Dried Competition portion.
(The guidelines for this are exactly the same as last year so
this form, although it says 2007, is correct for 2008 as well)
Please
Note: the deadline for registration is May 15, 2008
