AIFD Award of Merit — Non-Industry

AIFD presented the Award of Merit — Non-Industry to HGTV, during the 2007 AIFDNational Symposium in Palm Desert, Calif. (July 7-11). They are the front runners of promoting the use of fresh flowers and plants in everyday life and teaching their viewers just how it should be done. In turn, this is a very positive credit to AIFD and the floral profession.

HGTV became the 29th winner of this award. Below is a list of past winners.

 

 

 

 

 

Barry Humphries AKA Dame Edna Everage (2006) Dame Edna was recognized for her promotion of gladioli during her shows worldwide.
Martha Stewart (2002) Stewart was honored for creating outstanding public awareness by incorporating the use of fresh flowers in everyday living
Walt Disney Corporation 
and 
Raul Rodriquez of R.R.R. Design. (2000)
Disney was saluted for the outstanding use of floral displays throughout its many properties and Rodriquez for the beautiful Rose Parade floats and the use of flowers as designed by his company
J.W. Marriott and the Marriott Corporation (1999) AIFD honored the large hospitality company for its lavish use and display of fresh and permanent floral products in Marriott properties around the world.
Veranda Magazine (1998) From their first issue in 1987 on bridal bouquets to 1998's article on roses, to the use of professional floral designers and the crediting by names of the designer's work.
PA Horticulture Soc. (1997) For their promoting the art of floral design to the public with their annual Philadelphia Flower Show.
Las Floristas (1996) For their promoting floral design with their annual Floral Headdress Ball which benefits their clinic CART and the children at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.
Museum Society Aux. (1993) For contributions to floral art.
Victoria Magazine (1993) For creative and attractive use of fresh flowers throughout the publication.
Boston Pops (1992) For outstanding professional use of fresh flowers.
Barbara Tober (1986) For use of artistic and creative floral designs in the publication Brides Magazine and for the recognition and credit the magazine gives to AIFD's designers.
Lady Bird Johnson (1985) For her promotion of flowers and wildflowers in Texas and the nation with Wild Flower Preserves.
Aaron Spelling/Doug Cramer ('85) For their constant and outstanding use of floral creations on their television series, "Hotel" and "Dynasty."
Anne Richardson (1985) Editor and publisher of Texas Homes, for their repeated articles on flowers; for their creative use of flowers designed by top Texas floral artists; and their beautiful photography promoting flowers.
Richard Dwyer (1983) Professional ice skater who gives flowers to ladies in the audience at every performance.
Nancy Reagan (1983) Wife of former President Ronald Reagan. For her extensive use of flowers in the White House.
Willard Scott (1983) NBC-TV weatherman known for his boutonnieres.
Annette Johnson (1980) Executive editor, House and Garden Magazine.
Dinah Shore (1979) Movie star and TV personality.
Mrs. C. Vanderbilt Whitney ('77) Prominent socialite and wife of the owner of Calumet Farms.
Mrs. Commisar (1977) Proprietor of La Maisonette restaurant in Ohio.

Syndicated columnist.
Amy Vanderbilt (1971) Encouraged use of flowers through her etiquette book.
Margaret Chase Smith (1971) Senator from Maine.
Charles Masson (1970) Proprietor of La Grenoville restaurant in New York.
