The American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) Foundation, Inc., was established as an umbrella organization for all future funds and projects, with a single group of trustees having responsibility for all activities.

Subordinates are The Allen Shackleford AIFD Memorial Fund, The Eulalah Overmeyer AIFD Fund, The Rocky Pollitz AIFD Fund, The Don Stothart AIFD Fund, The James Moretz AIFD Fund, The Jim Treadaway AIFD Memorial Fund, The Florida Florist Fund, and The AIFD Regional Chapters Funds.” The first five organizations have as the primary purpose to financially assist college students pursuing an education in floriculture with emphasis in floral design. The Trustees of The AIFD Foundation, Inc. are pleased to announce that the Jim Treadaway AIFD Memorial Scholarship has been expanded to allow for more recipients and renamed The Symposium Scholarship Award.

The Foundation Board of Trustees is proud to announce that the Florida State Florist Foundation has entered into an agreement to join with and become a part of the AIFD Foundation. The new fund, now called the Florida Florist Fund, allows Florida Florists to take advantage of a greater amount of scholarships and grant monies, while still also adhering to the original mission of the Florida Foundation to assist with Florida florists suffering from the effects of catastrophic illness or natural disasters. The Florida Florist Fund Symposium Scholarship offers financial assistance to attend the 2008 AIFD National Symposium in Chicago July 3-7, 2008. The Florida Florist Fund Southern Conference Scholarship is available to a Florida non-AIFD floral designer who needs financial assistance to attend their first AIFD Southern Conference in Starkville, MS March 6-8, 2009.

The AIFD Foundation, Inc., assists the other funds in securing monies for endowed guaranteed investment for the raising of funds for sponsorship of students to National Symposium. A total of $216,217 has been awarded to date.

Other projects and activities supported through grants are: student research in the area of floral design, a partnership with AIFD to present design forums and the partial underwriting of the AIFD Book of Floral Terminology. Total scholarship assistance to date has been $279,467.00.
