Messages from Nature

Featuring: Keiko Okada
Assisted by: Kiko Zimmerman

The chief designer and instructor at the renowned Mami Kawasaki Flower Design School in Tokyo, Japan, Keiko approaches botanical materials wanting to spend as long as possible with them; even after they begin to fade away. She delicately expresses her feelings and love toward flowers in her mesmerizing designs, recognizing each one's character from the tiniest bud to the cultivated exotic blooms.

Photos to come soon! Check back!!

Nature Notes:

What I have learned from flowers; what nature has taught me.

Flowers are a most wonderful gift from nature. I'm so blessed to have a job which uses and communicates through this natural medium. Through plants and flowers, we can search for something that has a special meaning for each of us. In this way, we can sharpen our awareness of the beauty that lies in the world. In fact, Flower Design acts within our daily lives to nourish our spirits. I have learned that what is really important is to make the ordinary time we spend every day into something rich and comfortable. I becase a floral design instructor because I felt that I wanted to transmit to as many other people as possible what I had been taught. Although a long time has passed since then, the basis of my approach has not altered.
