Holiday Style Notes:

Holiday decorating has changed dramatically over the past century. Early years consisted of homemade garlands made of popped corn, cranberries or whatever people could afford at the time. Paper cut out snowflakes and maybe pretty feathers that had been collected through the course of the year were also used. Now the holiday season kicks off much earlier with decorating for the fall season as well as the holidays. Many customers request "trans-seasonal" decor, which consists of more natural products that will carry them through the entire winter holiday season. Then we find those who remian tried and true to a more "traditional" holiday look with reds accented with greens, gold or even silver. We also have a group of decorators who will go the more "trendy" route, selecting what is the latest and greatest on the market; chocolates, taupes, apple greens, dustry rosewood, etc.

We as floral artists, are a part of an ever evolving floral industry. Trends come and go. With the help of importers such as Regency International, television programs found on HGTV, as well as many other facets in our society, the general public is becoming much more "trend" savvy. Unlike the old days, clients are always seeking what is new and exciting. They starve for the little "twists" that we, as artists, incorporate into our floral creations.
