American Floral Trends Forecast

Hosted by: Talmage McLaurin AIFD

Fun

(Check out the Program Slideshow Below)

Color, fashion, textiles, home decor and lifestyle play an important role in establishing trends. An awareness of trends provides floral business owners and managers with the potential of investing in products than can be profitable and in demand. An understanding of trends allows floral designers to focus on innovative designs to meet the needs of their clients. Trends, unlike fads, have the potential of becoming long-term influences.

Today, our Host and Designers will present floral creations based upon the research conducted by industry experts and presented in The American Floral Trends Forecast 2010-2011.

NOTES:

The American Floral Trends Forecast was first presented at the 2003 AIFD symposium. The fourth edition was guided by Florists' Review Enterprises and four industry partners: Accent Decor, Inc.; Design Master color tool, inc.; Hawaii Tropical Flower Council/Hawaii Florists & Shippers Association; and Oasis Floral Products. AIFD celebrates the revolutionary discoveries of this study as it makes its stage debut with the intriguing looks of technoGLAM, CURIOsities, ECOnomics and patchWORLD.

The forecast was originally conceived as a program that was presented, in July 2003, at the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) National Symposium in St. Louis. The program was underwritten by the California Cut Flower Commission (CCFC), which became the custodian of the project thereafter.

Following that introduction, thanks to the CCFC, two more biennial forecasts were released. These guides to American floral style and trends have become the centerpiece for much of Florists' Review's January trend reporting. As the focus of CCFC's outreach shifted, the organization was kind enough to pass the forecast our direction, to ensure that florists, designers and other floral professionals would continue to have access to this useful tool.
