Raising the Bar

(Check out the Program Slideshow Below)

The Botanical Art Revolution Team is really an exception to the rules, an exception to the ordinary. Taking the accepted and the ordinary, to new levels of both inspiration and educaiton is what htis team achieves in their daily work -- the team members have expertise in every area of floral design.

The sheer range of experience within the team is proved from competition success as team members have won numerous Chelsea and Hampton Court Medals, including gold and best in show, World Skills Medals, and Interflora UK (FTD) medals, to demonstrating as far away as Japan, Canada, America, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and, of course, England!

"The stage will be set in a form that excites interest within the audience, with designs, which truly reflect the innovative, revolutionary and sometimes dangerous energy of revolution. We aim to give the impression that our show, our passion and our energy is sometimes something that needs to be contained - an element of danger and the unexpected!"

NOTES:

Paul Revere never could have imagined a British invasion being like this! A spectacular line up of fascinating designers from "over the pond" will took over the AIFD stage and dazzled us with their floral artistry. Stretching our imaginations and taking the ordinary and thrusting it way past the extraordinary, this Revolutionary program pushed the boundaries of design conception. Not only did it leave us thinking outside-the-box, it had us re-inventing it along the way.

There are so many beautiful natural products available for us to work with every day, though there are many sources of inspiration including emotional, methodology, technical, and cultural. Our major source of inspiration comes from the material itself (botanical), it leads us with its colour, form, shape or texture and going back to these basics allows us to take the time to take a second look at the material and enables us to see new exciting possibilities.

To help our students remember these key starting points we came up with the acronym:

Come - Colour
For - Form
Some - Space
Tea - Texture

This acronym was created especially for our trip to Boston for the main English principles we teach:

Boston - Balance
Historical - Harmony
Revolution - Rhythm
Started - Scale
People - Proportion
Drinking - Dominance
Coffee - Contrast
