NOTES:

Today's funeral practices find their roots firmly planted in elements of the Victorian era. These outdoor sculpture gardens are filled with hidden meanings, every nuance tells a story. Design artist, Ty Leslie AIFD, PFCI, explored many funeral customs and how they affect a new generation of funeral practices and the contemporary florist.

Funerals have changed dramatically throughout the years, but it was the Victorians who brought "mourning" into a new light. They "romanticized" and "sanitized" death, assigning foliage's and flowers "meanings," or erecting angels and cherubs to guard and "weep" forever, as well as "eternal flames" to light the way.
