SympWant to Volunteer???

Symposium is a major event and each year many attendees ask if they can volunteer to help in some small way. We'd love your help. You do, however, need to be Full or Education Only registered to attend Symposium in order to be a volunteer. If you are interested in being a volunteer for AIFD's "Revolution" in Boston, please contact James Lowe AIFD at (701) 838-2868 or jalowe@lowesfloral.com.

Wanted: "Revolution"ary Mentors

The dictionary defines a mentor as a loyal friend, wise advisor, a teacher and a guardian.

Do you remember your first symposium? Did you know anyone? Did you wish that there would be someone that you could go to with questions? Maybe show you the ropes and take you behind the scenes of our National Symposium? Maybe someone like a mentor?

As Immediate Past President, it is my duty to organize a special program that will welcome all first time attendees. We have heard from many first timers that they felt somewhat alone and intimidated when they attended their first symposium. I’m sure a lot of you can remember and relate to those feelings.

Here is my challenge. We need approximately sixty mentors in Boston. I challenge each region to send a minimum of ten members to our program. More would even be better! Each member will be “assigned” to four or five new attendees. You can “mentor” these first-timers and help them “get to know” just what happens at our symposium. It will be nice for them to know there is someone they can turn to with any questions or concerns.

The First Timers Orientation and Tour will be Saturday, July 3, at 5 p.m. I hope to see all the regions well represented. Any organization is only as good as its members. Let’s show our first-timers what great members we really are!
