Targeted Education Expanded for Convention
By Shelley Estersohn

Customer-service tips for wholesalers and suppliers, live call investigations to retail shops and the science of scent are some of the educational session topics designed to appeal to different segments of the industry at the SAF Annual Convention, Sept. 22-25 in Orlando.

"One of the strengths of this meeting is the scope of the attendees. It's a place where you can really talk to and learn from people from across the floral industry," said Convention Committee Chair Dottie Pannepacker, Penny's Flowers, Glenside, Pa. "We've always had programs with broad appeal, but we've also focused on segment-targeted topics."

For retail florists, that means sessions on forecasting, corporate accounts and profitable designs, among others. A session on generating higher sales through customer service has been added for wholesalers and suppliers. They'll also enjoy the return of SAF's popular Care and Handling Jeopardy game.

The Growers Roundtable will again draw a crowd. "Growers also won't want to miss the session on fragrance science and appealing to customer senses," Pannepacker said.

All attendees can benefit from programs on family business planning, social networking (both a beginner and an advanced strategies program will be offered), e-mail marketing, the Premier Products Showcase and SAF's annual All-Industry Idea Swap, as well as two general sessions focused on customer service at breakfasts Thursday and Friday.

Get the complete details on all the convention sessions and register online at www.SAFAnnualConvention.com. For more information, contact Laura Weaver at (800) 336-4743 or lweaver@safnow.org.
