The Professional Floral Design Evaluation (PFDE) was a Great Success and Everyone got to See!!

PFDE ReceptionOn Friday night, an informal reception was open to everyone so they could view the creative works of this year's candidates.

The candidates' designs were on display and everyone got an opportunity to meet each other and share in a whole lot of laughs!

Sharon McGukin AIFD Named President of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD)

Sharon McGukin Sharon McGukin AIFD, AAF, PFCI a freelance instructional designer and floral commentator from Carrollton, Ga. was installed as president of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) during the organization's 2010 National Symposium held in Boston, Mass. (July 3-8). She succeeds Tina Stoecker AIFD, AAF, PFCI of Designs of the Times Florists in Melbourne, Fla. as the volunteer leader of the floral industry's leading organization in design education.

AIFD Unveils 2010 Award Winner

Bill McKinleyAIFD announced the 2010 award winner during ceremonies that took place during the organization's 2010 National Symposium. The award winner, Bill McKinley AIFD, was recognized with AIFD's Special Award of Distinguished Service to the Industry.

ImagineDuring the summer of 1967 thousands of people came together in San Francisco to share a magical cultural phenomenon. Their simple goals were to dream, create and share. Their icons were flowers and they were know as "Flower Children." Forty-four years later we will gather in San Francisco, where we will "Dream, Create and Share."

AIFD Member Featured in the Boston Globe!

Ann Jordan RevolutionAIFD's very own, Ann Jordan, was featured in the Boston Globe!!

Globe: What’s going to happen at the “Revolution?’’

Ann: We have three days of programming and prior to that, two days of meetings, and two days of testing. To be a member, you have to take written and skills tests on things like wedding bouquets, sympathy work, and corsages. We have people coming from Korea, Singapore, Mexico, and Australia. We have students in floral design colleges coming to compete.
