Southern Chapter Bragging Rights...

CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER:

  • Greg Brown AIFD, Bill Lindeman AIFD, Jeff Lott AIFD and Perry Walston AIFD worked together to create the entrance decor to the Southeastern Flower Show. Thanks to Cut Flower Wholesale, Atlanta, Ga. for donating the flowers and thanks to Accent Decor, Roswell Ga. for donating the containers. Sponsored by Southeastern Horticultural Society.
  • Bill Lindeman AIFD and Jimmy Threatt AIFD created a window display for North Star by Premier of Jacksonville, Florida for the fourth floor at the Dallas Marker Center in January. The design won the award for Best Visual Display. Good going guys!
  • Jacqueline Headecker AIFD was the spring semester Artist in Residence floral designer at Mississippi State University, April 6-8. Jackie taught four different courses during her visit on topics including Canadian floricultural products and distributino, floral design for interior plantscapers, and traditional and freestyle ikebana.

    A resident of Toronto, she has been involved with the floral industry in floral design, product development and educaiton for 29 years. She is the recipient of eight awards for achievements from Flowers Canada, is a past president of Flowers Canada, Toronto Chapter and has taught floral design at the University of Guelph. Most noteably, Headecker represented Canada twice at the Interflora World Cup Competition as a coach in 1985 and as a competitor in 1989.

SOUTHERN CHAPTER MEMORY GARDEN...

Len Morganseay AIFD, AAF
On Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, Len Morganseay AIFD, AAF, 67, of Fredericksburg, Va. passed from this life while at his home, surrounded by his loved ones after a long and hard-fought batter with cancer.

Born Leonard Anthony Morgan on Oct. 14, 1942, in Oklahoma, his family later moved to Fauquier County, Va. In 1975, he opened his own florist shop, Morgan's Flower Meadow at Four-Mile Fork, Va.

Len went on to become a graduate of the American Institute of Floral Design and the American Academy of Floraculture. Her served two terms as president of the Mid-Atlantic Florists Association. He was Virginia Designer of the Year twice, Greater Washington Designer of the Year, worked on the Presidential Inaugural design team, and the Washington, D.C. Flower and Garden Show. He recently retired from the position of operations manager for a florist and design center in Orlando, Fla.

In 1992, he and his life partner, David Sea, held a commitment ceremony. In 1994, they combined their last names to signify that commitment.

A memorial service was held on December 22, 2009 at Covenant Funeral Service, with the Rev. David Morganseay officiating. In keeping with his wishes, Len's ashes will be scattered in a beloved waterfall in Oregon.

Jo Ingersoll AIFD, AAF
Jo Ingersoll AIFD, AAF passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, after at 37 year battle with cancer.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ingersoll of Jackson, Mich., she was born Sept. 29, 1946.

She is survived by many cousins, extended families and a vast circle of close friends. She has touched many lives in a profound way and will be remembered most for her gentle and kind spirit, love freely given and beautiful smile.

Jo was proprietor of Shelton Florist since the early 1970s and was very active in the Southern Retail Florist Association for many years. She was an AIFD designer and won countless awards and recognition in the Florist Industry.

A memorial service was held on Oct. 19, 2009 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church.

Memorials can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204.
