Happy New Year!!!
Ahead lies an exciting year for the NERC. Some of the highlights include the Philadelphia Flower Show, a spring design show, and of course symposium.
Next month many of us will make the annual pilgrimage to the City of Brotherly Love for the always inspiring flower show.
“Passport to the World,” the theme of this years show, runs February 28 through March 7. Our creative leader, Adrien Presti will see her hard work and dedication flourish with “Exploration South Africa.” Our annual spring board meeting will take place in Philadelphia prior to the closing of the show. This meeting is sure to be long and productive.
The region will host another design show this April in Albany, NY. Colleen Kelly has been working diligently on putting together a first rate event for the NERC.
On the calendar in May is another “In-Step” an “AIFD Bouquet Experience” hands-on educational workshop. Hosting AIFD will be the breathtakingly beautiful Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. What a fantastic excuse to visit the gardens and support AIFD.
Finally, I am sure you all are aware that “Revolution” is coming to the NE Region. This July 3-8 (which will be here before you can say “The British are coming, the British are coming!!!”), the NERC will play host as the National Symposium takes place in Boston. Ann Jordan and Janet Black have dedicated over a year in planning a world class event. All members of the NE Region are reminded that we will be the gracious hosts for all of our guests. Let’s show ‘em how we do things in the NE!!! If you are not already involved, volunteer if only for an hour or two. Remember, you get out of AIFD what you put into AIFD. So my dear friends ask not what AIFD can do for you…but what you can do for AIFD.
Please be reminded that AIFD NERC Memorial Scholarship applications are due by March 1st!! What a fantastic opportunity for someone to experience symposium for the first time. If anyone has questions about the scholarship contact me, Ken Norman at Kennaifd@me.com.
See you in Philly!
Respectfully,
Ken Norman AIFD
